Dog Walking Permits
~ Dog Walking Permits are required to take your dog(s) to Duxbury Beach and the Town of Duxbury Conservation Land ~
There are over 300 Open Space parcels in Duxbury, the main walking areas include:
- Ashdod Forest - Congress Street (no parking)
- Bay Circuit Trail - http://www.baycircuit.org/
- Bay Farm Field - parking off Bay Road
- Berrybrook Fields - parking off Winter Stree
- Camp Wing Conservation Area - parking off Franklin Street
- David Cutler Forest - parking off Mayflower Street
- Delano Farm - off Cordwood Path (no parking)
- Duxbury Beach - daily updates https://www.town.duxbury.ma.us/beach-operations
- Duxbury Bogs - parking off East Street
- Frederick Knapp / Town Forest - parking off Mayflower Street & behind Town Hall
- Howland's Landing - parking off Crescent Street
- Lansing Bennett Forest - parking off Union Bridge Road
- Lapham Woods - across from Town Hall, off-street parking on Depot Street
- North Hill Country Club
- North Hill Wildlife Sanctuary - parking off Mayflower Street
- Old Garside Bog - bogs between Congress & Franklin Streets
- Round Pond Trails - parking off Mayflower Street
- South River Bogs - parking off North Street
- Thaddeus Chandler Sanctuary - parking off Valley Street
- Waiting Hill Preserve - part of North Hill Marsh conservation area
- Whiton Woods - parking off Temple Street
Permitting Requirements:
- Permit must be obtained prior to walking on the beach or town land
- Proof of a current dog license(s) from Duxbury or another jurisdiction
- (1) Permit per dog
- Tag must be worn on leash or collar
Cost:
- Resident $10.00 per dog
- Non-Resident $25.00 per dog
- Complimentary to Duxbury Residents age 70 and older
- Valid for one calendar year
Walking Permits may be purchased in the following ways:
- TOWN CLERK’S OFFICE: during regular business hours
- BY MAIL: include application, payment & self-addressed stamped envelope (1 stamp per dog)
- DROP BOX (rear of Town Hall): include application, payment & self-addressed stamped envelope (1 stamp per dog)
- ONLINE: Payment Center on the town’s website: http://unipaygold.unibank.com/customerinfo.aspx
*Fees collected will help offset the cost of the "Mutt Mitt Dog Waste Removal Program" - Mutt Mitt stations are installed at 13 locations around Town.
